Professor Dr Evren Dilektasli is an accomplished bariatric surgeon, specialising in the field of surgical weight loss treatments in Turkey and internationally.

Dr Evren continues to lead his field with over 10,000 laparoscopic, and over 3,500 bariatric surgical procedures, advancing the concept of weight loss surgery in Turkey.

Originally trained in Ankara, Turkey, Dr Evren received his medical degree at the Gazi University Hospital and then did his residency in general surgery at the Ankara Numune Education and Research Hospital.

His surgery training was furthered during his post-doctoral Fellowship in trauma and emergency surgery at the University of Southern California’s (USC) Trauma and Emergency Centre in Los Angeles, USA. At the same time, he was a visiting surgeon at USC Keck Medical School’s Upper Gastrointestinal System and Obesity Surgery Clinic, in Los Angeles.

As a Professor, Dr Evren is an educational supervisor for Bariatric surgeons in training and trains specialist fellows in complex bariatric surgery. Dr Evren is asked to teach regularly on courses and has gone around the world attending various conferences and publishing in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Dr Evren was awarded the Excellence in Research Award by the American College of Surgeons for the scientific research that he carried out at USC Keck Medical School.

As well as being a member of the Turkish Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Association and the Turkish Medical Association, Dr. Evren is also a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), and a member of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO).
