The centre’s chief surgeon, Dr Murat Ustun, is one of the best-known bariatric surgeons in Turkey. He is a pioneer especially in the field of endoscopic gastroplasty and enjoys a great reputation in the international scientific community and academic circles.

Dr Ustun is highly experienced in all advanced laparoscopic surgical operations and has completed more than 8 000 of these procedures. He has been specialised in bariatric and metabolic surgery since 2002.

What a team! Best doctor ever! I had the sleeve surgery in April 2019, was the best decision in my life to work with Doctor Murat and his team. Everyone was amazing, the hospital and staff were 5 stars from every point of view. If I would have to decide to do it again would definitely be with Doctor Murat. They took really good care of me, even if I was in a country where I had no idea about the language, that hasn’t been a problem because they have translators who are helping the language barrier. The nurses will come and check on you constantly and the doctors as well. The follow-up, the diet is closely checked as well, any questions I had been answered straight away and I have been advised on every step. I’ve been having weight issues pretty much my entire life. Gone through countless diets, tried all fancy names you can think of these days. Every time I lost kilos, I ended gaining them back and every time it was harder to get back on a diet and see results. I went for a gastric band 9 years ago but that didn’t help a lot. I was constantly hungry but wasn’t able to eat. Eventually, the band became just part of my body, not restricting me at all, it was just there. I read a lot about the gastric bypass surgery and decided to remove the band and give that a try. Did some research and came across Dr Murat Ustun reviews on the internet. Spoke to him on the phone and he gave me that confidence that I needed. Everything was arranged great, we were very well taken care of and I am really happy I made this decision with Dr Ustun. He answered all the questions I had and really cared about me. Fantastic doctor, fantastic team!

Gastric Bypass

I recently had mini gastric bypass surgery as I have been struggling to lose weight. A friend of mine who had the surgery previously with Dr Murat had amazing results.It is definitely good value for money! It is a super clean environment and you have a whole room to yourself which makes you feel like you not at the hospital. Before the surgery, all the necessary tests were carried out to check if everything was okay and continue with the surgery. There was no language barrier which is important. I can’t wait to record photos of my results! Dr Murat's team made my journey super easy and comfortable I cannot recommend Istanbul Bariatric Center enough! Gastric Sleeve

My Gastric Sleeve Surgery in a nutshell. Travelling to Istanbul from the UK for surgery is a very confusing and daunting thought, however, everything started getting easy once I spoke to Adam over the phone who explained the whole process and arranged a consultation meeting in person with the Surgeon Dr. Murat at Harley Street Clinic in London. Dr. Murat explained in detail the whole surgery procedure and answered all the technical questions (Having aftercare by a London based Doctor was a massive reassurance and a trust builder). After the consultation, I had a Video conference with company Director Demet who explained pre-surgery dietary requirements in detail and explained why I need to follow it. We arrived at Istanbul Airport in the middle of the night, Demet was constantly in touch with me and guided me. Our transport was waiting for us and took us straight to a very clean and state of the art hospital. The nursing staff immediately scrambled and made me very comfortable, the next morning Surgeon Dr. Yigit visited me to say hello and explained the whole process about the surgery which was again very reassuring. After that I was visited by 2 more doctors who did further pre-surgery checkups, I had an Endoscopy, Ultrasound and X-Rays done. In the afternoon Demet, Dr. Yigit and Dr. Murat visited me and informed me that after all the checks ups and results they were happy with going ahead with the Surgery. Dr. Murat's visit was a surprise as I was not expecting Dr. Murat to join the surgery as well. It was very nerve-calming to know that the top 2 and experienced Surgeons in Turkey will be performing the surgery. I was taken to the operation theatre at 3:30 PM, where I spoke to the anaesthetist and was put to sleep. I woke up around 6:30 PM and was taken to my room where Demet was present throughout the time with my wife to support her. After surgery, I had Nausea and felt a bit rough, Dr. Yigit and Dr.Murat visited me in the evening to check up on me and informed me that the surgery was successful. They reassured me that from the next day I will start feeling a lot better and they were right. The next day my symptoms were reduced to half and felt a lot better. Dr. Yigit and Demet visited me 3 times to check up on me. On the 2nd day, I was a lot better and started walking around. Demet and Dr Yigit kept a close eye on me and made sure I am very well looked after. On the 3rd day, I requested to be taken off Pain killers as I felt much better. I stayed further 2 days at the hospital where I had post OP check-ups and a visit to Dietician with an excellent interpreter Muhammad. The Dietician was very thorough and explained my post-op Diet. During the whole 4 days, Dr Yigit and Demet frequently visited me every day to check on me. On the 5th day, I got discharged from the hospital and transported to a 5 Star hotel. Where we stayed for a further 3 days. On the last day, we were transported to Istanbul Airport from the Hotel. Its been 10 days since my operation and am back in the UK but Demet is always available whenever I need to ask anything. I am pain-free and walking around. During all these days, Demet was constantly in touch over the phone and in person, helping and guiding us. As she had a Gastric Surgery a couple of years ago, she knew exactly what I was going through and had all the answers. Demet is a genuinely wonderful person and goes out of the way to help her Patients. Dr. Murat and Dr Yigit apart from being excellent Surgeons are very decent human beings, who genuinely care about there patients. The Nursing Staff at the hospital were very caring and helpful. In the end, I would like to thank from the depth of my heart Dr. Murat, Dr. Yigit, wonderful Demet, Adam, Muhammad, the Nursing staff and other hospital staff for looking after me.I 100% recommend them for weight loss surgeries and rest assured you will be in safe hands and very well looked after by Professionals.

I had gastric sleeve surgery 1-year ago it really has changed my life! Dr Murat and the whole team are absolutely amazing!
