I had two urgent fillings and then booked in the following week for a new patient package, which included an x-ray, clean and fluoride treatment. I now have a plan for the next 6 months and a great dentist. Having been to two appointments now at Dickson Park Dental Surgery I've found myself actively recommending it to others. The appointments started on schedule (no waiting around for half an hour), the prices were clearly explained and comparable (possibly slightly cheaper) than my old dentist and the team were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable without being preachy. The availability of appointments originally drew me to the clinic (my old dentist had a waiting time of about 6 months). When I rang to book my appointment Rose (one of the admin team) was friendly and I found the same when I arrived the following day. Based at Dickson, parking is easy. The dentist (Dr. Lucille Pereira) was kind (despite my poor dental health and the need for 2 fillings) and made me feel like there were easy things I could do to take better care of my teeth without being in trouble (floss, limit sugar to meal times etc). She explained everything as she went and by the time I left I was happy to have a new dentist. Their rates are competitive but it's their service that has made me recommend them (several times in the last two weeks) to friends and family.
I have been told by my general dental practice over the last 3 years that I have gum disease and over the Christmas vacation, I felt alot of gum pain. I, therefore, felt I needed more than preventive maintenance that my dentist could offer. l made an appointment after reading on the Dickson park website that they offered gum treatment. I advised them on my visit my reason for making the appointment. I had an extended good consultation but found out after the consultation that the treatment offered was preventative only. I would need specialist treatment which a general dentist practise could not provide. This extended consultation was costed at $230. I compared this to the charge for an extended consultation with my regular dentist of $90. I asked management to consider this problem. I was then advised their website did not state they offered specialist gum treatment and specialist gum treatment requires a referral. I was offered a new charge in good faith of $119. I am grateful for this outcome but believe the problem could have been avoided if the information on the website stated preventative gum treatment and maintenance.
