TMJ - Temporomandibular Joint Treatment

TMJ Delighted to recommend O'Connor Dental Health. I have had issues with my right temporo-mandibular joint (TMJ) for a number of years - frequent clicking and episodes of pain associated with reduced range of motion at the joint as well as frequent episodes of tinnitus and ear pain. I am a doctor and had researched the condition in detail and understand that it is frequently misdiagnosed as well as ineffectively treated. I was reluctant to go down the surgical route for TMJ dysfunction and was thrilled to find an expert in this complex condition in my locality as it is frequently misunderstood and very difficult to manage. The practice itself is warm and welcoming with exceptionally friendly staff. After a thorough dental and orthodontic history was taken a dental exam was performed and the cause of my TMJ dysfunction was fully explained. Dr O'Connor has trained in Functional Jaw Orthopaedics and Myofunctional Therapy which is concerned with the process of encouraging the upper and lower jaw to grow to their correct shape and position thereby allowing the teeth to grow as they should and not crowd. I had had orthodontic treatment for impacted adult canine teeth which required surgery and braces 6 years ago. I now understand that because of impacted adult teeth my upper jaw failed to grow to it's correct size and because of that my lower jaw is in effect slightly too large which has caused crowding of my lower teeth and has had a knock on effect in that it has caused problems with the positioning of my TMJ. I am very satisfied with the diagnosis and explanation of my symptoms given to me and thrilled with the treatment plan I have been given (exercises based on myofunctional principles as well as a night time splint to wear) and would recommend this practice highly.

Firstly I was in a car crash a few years back and had my front teeth knocked out and could never afford to properly get them fixed. The price of the orthodontic treatment was very reasonable so I made an appointment. But what got me to go ahead with the treatment was the kindness and friendliness of the staff at at this practice. My teeth needed straightening first. By the time the damon braces where put on it only took 7 months for tony to straighten them. I was shocked at how little time it took. I had a terrible habit of always blocking my mouth when I talked or laughed. Tony has changed that now. The day the braces came off was one of the most amazing experiences I've ever felt. I was happier than I could have imagined. It has given me my confidence back and I will be forever grateful for that. On top of it all it was minimal pain throughout. My teeth where always handled with care.

Dental Checkup, Clear Braces

Orthodontists I first of all went to this dentist to get a check up on my teeth as i had a pain on the side of my head. Turned out that the pain was from grinding my teeth, as they didn't align properly I always wanted to straighten my teeth, but was really unsure what it involved, and was wary.After to speaking to Tony and his team, my mind was made up to get clear braces, and now a year later, I have a beautiful smile, which boosts my confidence and has really added to my life!would really recommend this clinic

Dentist Consultation

Had a decayed tooth that needed extraction. Tony removed it and treated the good tooth beside it. Very impressed by the use of an x-ray to show me why the tooth could not be saved and had to be extracted. Very friendly and his dental expertise second to none.Very good.

Orthodontist Consultation

Orthodontists To begin with I was in my mid 20's when I began my treatment and my mouth was extremely crowded with crooked teeth. I had sought much information from different clinics via phone calls and they all told me, without even seeing me, that I would have to have teeth removed regardless. All except Tony. When he looked at my teeth, he told me that it might be difficult, but he would try to save these teeth, which is what he ended up doing. Not only are my teeth now straight but, thanks to the advice I received from Bridget, I also learned that I had to control my tongue in order to keep the result, she set out a series of exercises which strengthened my tongue and general well-being by consequence. The clinic had a very homely atmosphere and a calm waiting room. I am extremely pleased with the result and would strongly urge anyone who may be even thinking about orthodontics to at the very least to seek a consultation, after which I am sure it will be obvious that this is the best course of treatment available.

Zoom Bleaching and Hygiene visit My experience in the O Connor dental health was pleasent.As a person who is nervous about visiting the dentist i felt very relaxed both in the waiting room and on the chair.Over the years i have attended a few different dentists and this has been the one practice where i felt relaxed and at ease due to the care of the staff. I would like to thank Dr. O'Connor for completing the orthodontic treatment that the other doctor couldn't do. For 4 years I attended another orthodontist who was unable to finish straightening my teeth. when Dr. O'Connor was recommended to me, from the very first minute I knew that I was in good hands. Within a month, Dr. O Connor made the teeth straightened according to my expectations and the braces were taken off where another doctor could not do it for 4 years. My only regret is that I didn't find Dr. O Connor from the very beginning. At the end of the treatment, I bought a whitening kit from the doctor and I can finally enjoy a beautiful smile for the rest of my life.
