Extractions, Dental Implants

Last Friday, I had a 10 am an appointment for my tooth removal and initial implant with Dr. Carlos Wheeler. He was extremely thorough, taking his time while explaining every step of the procedure. By 1 pm, I was out the door with the new implant in place a "flipper" (temporary tooth) and a bag of medications to take with me! I couldn't be happier with the experience and have already recommended this cost-saving option to all my friends. I was impressed from the very beginning when the driver (included in the price) picked my daughter and I up a little after 9 am at our San Diego Hotel. He whisked us across the border to the Prize Smile Clinic in plenty of time for my 10 am an appointment. We were impressed, pleased to find the clinic was state of the art in every way and immaculately clean! Dr. Wheeler couldn't have been more kind, concerned and professional. I look forward to my return visit in 6 months for the permanent crown.

Dental Bridges

I recently lost dental coverage and suddenly a bridge I had for years started falling apart. I started researching clinics in Algodones, (250 Miles from home) as I know many retirees and Canadians go there. I was more interested in visiting Tijuana, as I have been there before and it is closer to my home. I sent a request for info on a Saturday afternoon and received a call almost immediately. Didn’t expect that response. I spoke with Frank who is very friendly and helpful. When I expressed my interest in going to Tijuana, he mentioned they also have clinics in Tijuana (only 100 Miles from home). He was very helpful in telling me how easy it is to get into Tijuana and it was true using the pedestrian bridge and Uber. The clinic is not more than 5-10 minutes from the border.The clinic hasn’t been there a year. All equipment was new and modern.Had the good fortune of meeting Dr Carlos Wheeler last week. We discussed options and he went to work to have the bridge built perfectly. I had some additional special requests which he was happy to accommodate. Dr Wheeler and Dra Alexia were very interested in making sure they got everything just right. Had my new bridge installed today. He actually had the lab do a better job in matching my teeth colouring than last time. Also, as we age, our gums recede. He made sure the fit was better than before I walked in the door.Dra Isabel’s smile lights up the room when you walk in. She is a new and enthusiastic dentist but also knows what she do and when she needs to rely on others expertise. She certainly doesn’t oversell services. I will definitely be going back to her for regular cleaning maintenance, etc. You will enjoy meeting her as it is clear that she really cares.As a side note, many people are fearful of going to Tijuana. The area you will go into is very much a business district with people going about their daily routines. I had no concerns at all. Safety was not an issue at all! I chose to stay overnight last night at a Marriott and walked nearly a mile for dinner. Had no concerns whatsoever. Two thumbs up!The service was excellent and quality!

Dentist Consultation

I was able to afford all the work that I needed to be done in my mouth, Finally. The clinic was so clean and comfortable. Dr. Isabel treated me 2 consecutive days and she was extremely caring. She was concerned about my well being the entire time. My best friend and my boyfriend will be visiting her also. I guess I was the "Guinea pig". I am very pleased with the treatment and the level of service. I highly recommend that you visit Prize Smile. The clinic is newly remodeled. It looks very nice! All the equipment is brand new.I drove across the border. It only took 2 minutes to arrive. It is very easy to get there but you must be prepared to wait in a long line when you drive back into the US. Get a cab instead. Taxis are very inexpensive in Tijuana. They also recommended a great plastic surgeon and drove me to see him personally. Thank you, Dr Isabel, for being so wonderful! I'm 100% satisfied.

Dentist Consultation

I am a person with no dental insurance. I quickly realized that I can not afford dental work in the US. However, I quickly did the research and realized it was a much better option to visit Mexico (even with insurance). I like the treatment on the phone from Frank and Dr. Isabel. I was convinced that their primary concern is my oral health. Needless to say, they lived up to everything they said and more. I will recommend all my friends and family to the Prize Smile team. I am very pleased and I can actually say that I can't wait to go back! Dr. Isabel is a lovely human being with wonderful skills. The best dental experience ever! Dr. Isabel saved me.

Dentist Consultation, Dental X-Ray

Prize Smile is a brand new, state of the art dental clinic in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. A quick five-minute drive from the border, just off of Paseo de Los Heroes. The Dentist in Residence is Isabel Sotelo, a highly professional, greatly qualified woman with a serene demeanor. She was in charge of taking my X-Rays using the latest in dental technology and she was careful to be gentle with my sore mouth.Once she took my X-Rays, she put me in the highly capable hands of Cynthia Castañeda, the periodontist in charge. Here, I must confess that I was traumatized by a careless dentist as a child, therefore for years and years, I was terrified of seeing the dentist. I neglected my checkups and did my best not to have to see a dentist unless it was an emergency. This is why my gums were in such poor state: infected, bleeding, swollen.And here is where Dr. Castañeda stepped in to save the day. Not only did she not hurt me even though she had to anesthetize the whole upper-gum area, her professional demeanor and thorough description of the procedure were highly reassuring. I relaxed immediately and felt that I was in very capable hands. Not only that, her post-treatment recommendations, in excellent English were clear and concise. Dr. Castañeda was very thorough, taking her time to rid my teeth of the bacteria that was causing the inflammation and treating my gums to meticulously remove all the particles that caused the infection. Though she said that I would feel pain once the anesthesia wore off due to the comprehensive deep-cleaning, it wore off completely once I took a mild analgesic. By the second day, my gums had stopped bleeding and now I am well on the path to achieve healthy gums and teeth.Overall, I give Prize Smile Dental top marks for medical personnel, attention to the patient, quality of treatment, efficiency, and use of state of the art technology to diagnose and treat. The facilities are modern and clean, and the staff is friendly and fluent in English. Furthermore, I will be forever grateful to Doctors Castañeda and Sotelo for their quality of care. A great experience!

Dental Implants, Bone Grafting, Extractions

I'm impressed and pleased with the professional care I received during my first visit to Prize Smile for a single tooth implant. During the three hour session, Dr Wheeler and his assistant took a mould of my mouth, extracted my cracked tooth, inserted the implant with a bone graft, plus created and inserted a flipper (temporary tooth). I will return after the 6 month healing period to have the permanent crown set in place. In the end, this two visit procedure will cost half the price I would pay for an implant in the US. I am extremely satisfied and have been recommending Prize Smile to all my friends and family. I originally chose Prize Smile because their staff answered all my questions, addressing any concerns before making my appointment. The Office is immaculately clean and modern. Truly a state of the art facility. The friendly staff made me feel comfortable and right at home. In all, it was a very pleasant experience. While she waited, my daughter was able to work remotely using the wifi provided in their comfortable waiting room. My appointment was at 10 am and we finished at 1 pm. Experiencing very little discomfort, I was able to go sightseeing with my daughter that same afternoon. I'm happy I chose Prize Smile and highly recommend this clinic.

I want to praise and commend the staff at Prize Smile in Tijuana, (yesterday on my final Denture fitting, I even got to meet Adrian the owner, who strives for excellence, at affordable prices.The staff Dr Isabel (my dentist) Tony, (our appt setter) & Denise here are wonderful.So as an American on a tight budget, I want to say never be afraid to cross the border and receive the best dental care better than the USA, from Prize Smile in Tijuana.
