The ophthalmologist performed several tests and then asked me to cover my right eye and describe what I saw. My response was, "Not very much." After further examination, Dr. Ferwerda diagnosed a cataract in my left eye and recommended lens replacement. The surgery was scheduled for the following Friday, and the operation was a success. Afterwards, I had a follow-up appointment, and Dr Ferwerda proceeded with the right eye surgery. Now, I can see perfectly without glasses—it's like entering a new world with clear vision. I had no treatment but wanted to find out what is wrong with my eyes and what can we do about it. After the examination, they said I need to change my lenses. The whole procedure cost me around $AU 80, but I can't compare value because this exam is free in AU. I just looked on the internet and found three major eye clinics in Saigon and this is one of them. Impressions were perfect, modern, clean, latest technology. Very good care and value for money compared with home (UK) prices. The procedure was surprisingly quick and well organised, I was taken to another room immediately after to rest and have a drink, was then allowed to rest for a few hrs before having a check up. Information provided was good although the poor level of English was almost enough to put me off. I stuck with it and I have been very happy with the results. Staff are nice and helpful however an improved level of English would attract more international patients. Aftercare was good and was perfect for a medical holiday to get my eyes lasered.
