My name is Dermot Heslin, and I am an accredited (IAHIP, ICP) person-centred psychotherapist. This means that I combine learning from different schools of psychotherapy to best meet the needs of each person. I work with a broad range of issues such as depression, anxiety, grief, relationship issues, childhood trauma, self-esteem and personal-development. My career began in software development, and I moved from there into the not-for-profit sector, where I supported people in developing leadership skills through volunteering. I became interested in counselling and psychotherapy, as I saw people's ability to grow during periods of intense challenge, provided they had the right supports.

As well as my core training (Masters in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy), I have trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, which is a body-based approach to working with trauma.

I see clients in-person in my clinic in Dawson St, and also online.
