There are not enough adjectives in Spanish and English combined to properly express how wonderful Dr Urzola and his staff are. Even before travelling to Costa Rica, Cristina and the doctor were in personal contact with us, taking time to explain not only everything from a dental and medical aspect but everything and anything we needed to facilitate a smooth and easy trip. From the minute we arrived until the day we left Dr. Urzola went out of his way to see to our comfort. Our trip was originally just for my husband who had been without teeth for over a year. It changed his personality making him unsocial and depressed. I broke a visible tooth a week before our trip so I ended up needing work as well. I am a total coward, needing gas to get a cleaning. The procedure was a breeze. During the days to follow there was a bit of swelling and tenderness but nothing near what I feared after 3 extractions and four implants, 7 for my husband. We met other Americans who travelled for the same purpose. They did even more research on the level of medical expertise and the doctor personally. There are several other doctors doing the same thing but none that even come close to measuring up to Dr Urzola, medically and personally. If you are considering doing this...LOOK NO FURTHER! I contacted Jehovah Rapha Dental Centere after arriving in Costa Rica on vacation with my family. We had scheduled appointments with another dental facility, however, after our visit, my husband and I both agreed that it was not a good fit for our family. We began searching, and being a pastor in the U.S., I was naturally drawn to the name (Jehovah Rapha). We were able to get an appointment immediately! It was a very busy time for Dr. Coto, but he agreed to meet with me and my husband anyhow. The spirit of this man without question is remarkable! He exudes genuine humility and compassion toward his patients. His knowledge base in the area of implant surgery is expansive. We were sold at first glance. He personally drove us back to our hotel after our first visit. At my second visit, which was I believe was four days later, I received ten implants and five extractions. I chose to have IV sedation because I am the biggest chicken ever when it comes to having dental work of any type performed. Surprisingly, I never felt the IV enter my arm! First time that has ever happened! Kudos to the young man who started my IV. My apologies for not remembering his name. In addition to this, Dr. Koto did not charge me for the sedation or extractions! Now who does that? After placing my IV, I was led to the area where my surgery would be carried out. Before putting me to sleep, Dr. Coto and his staff surrounded me and began to pray. Enough said! I never felt worried or concerned about anything. I was completely at ease. It has been a week since my surgery, and I am actually looking forward to my return to have my work completed in January. I stated that my husband also had work performed. He had an abscess and was given a root canal on that tooth. He also received veneers and had approximately six old fillings removed and replaced. Our appointment times were at different times, and our hotel was not nearby because as I stated our appointment was made after having arrived in Costa Rica. However, this was no problem because Dr. Coto has an archangel in the name of Mr. Olger Gonzalez who was at our disposal, driving us to and from all appointments. Olger is a gem! He was so very helpful in calming my anxiety prior to the day of surgery. He even took me out to lunch while my husband was having his dental work completed. What else is there to say? If you are in need of dental surgery and you don't care to pay the outrageous dental cost in the US, Jehovah Rapha (Dr. Coto) should be your only choice. The team and doctor are second to none. Thanks, guys, for everything! Total bill this visit was less than $10,000. The clinic was clean with state of art dental equipment. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. Every question I had, they were more than happy to answer. Simply an outstanding team of professionals. read more

I couldn’t be happier!Dr. Diego is a bright young Doctor meticulous in his work, who speaks excellent English and does everything in his power to make the experience hassle free. He arraigned transportation from the airport, and to and from each visit. Talk about making it easy.My work was porcelain crowns on my six upper front teeth, and five upper implants. Monday: Transport to Santa Cruz for a CAT scan, two hundred bucks. Try that in the US. On to the office where Dr. Diego reviewed the CAT scan, examined the teeth, and came up with a treatment plan to which I eagerly agreed. I would note that on one side of my upper, I have only one remaining molar (for now). My US Dentist wanted to pull that tooth and put in an implant. Dr. Diego pointed out that the jaw on that side would be able to collapse in the six month before the implants were crowned. Good catch doctor.Tuesday: Dr. Diego prepared my upper front teeth for crowns, made impressions, and fitted temporaries. The guy is a wizard with the needle, even the palate shot didn’t hurt. I asked why he was being so meticulous with the forming of my teeth. He pointed out that the upper front teeth have to be perfect on the curve, or they look terrible. He certainly did mine right as the results are fantastic.Thursday: Dr. Diego brought in a surgeon for the five implants. Another late thirties doctor with good English that knows what he is doing. A little more than an hour later, I was done. No pain, none, for the first three days, then aspirin level tenderness for two days. Following Wednesday: The new crowns were put on, and I was done for now. You just can’t know what it means to me to be able to smile again.In six months, back to have crowns put on the implants.Cost: Less than half of what my dentist in the US proposed.The experience was a little different than with a dentist in the US. When you call, you reach the doctor. No receptionist, no assistant, just the doctor who has everything he needs within reach. Not bad, just not what we are used to in the US.As to the area, Tamarindo is a beautiful long beach that attracts surfers from all over the world. It is not as cheap as other places in Costa Rica, but the view, and compact little town are worth it. For a beach front hotel, I paid about what I would pay for a regular, in town hotel in the US. It is the food that is a little pricy unless you go to a Soda (Café). The food is great to fantastic either place.Would I do it again with Dr. Diego, in a heartbeat. Back down for the new crowns in six months, and I am so happy, I may have him crown my lower front teeth. Professional office, everything he needed was within reach. As I noted, the doctor took care of everything, and answered himself whenever I called. It is not a bad thing when you reach the doctor directly, instead of going through a receptionist. read more

I have been using this clinic for 6 years (3 visits from the US for implants, crowns and a recent check-up as I was in San Jose for other business). Dr. Castro did 8 crowns for me 4 years ago after I had had implants at the same clinic by Dr Anglada. The dental standards in CR are very high, esp. for clinics that have a large American (and Canadian) clientele, as is the case with Cleo Dental. Dr Castro's work was meticulous, the crowns look and feel like real teeth, I have had no issues with them. He also replaced my old mercury fillings. I saved thousands of dollars between the implants and crowns. Everyone speaks English. Don't throw your money away in the US on expensive work. San Jose is full of Americans getting dental (and cosmetic) work. You get a nice trip in the bargain. The arrow in the picture points to one of the crowned implants, you can't see it too well. Got 9 crowns, 8 veneers,3 implants, 3 root canals, fixed underbite 3 rd category.I had a dr. Castro working on my teeth. Wth having underbitechipped - crooked upper front teeth, uneven bottom, she did phenomenaljob on restoring all to best possible smile. And fixed underbite as well.So now every thing looks like normal bite, teeth are all even and pretty, I can smile now.Dr. Umana placed 3 implants, pain free. And their support team also All were great. All was a bit pricey, but with top notch work, all appointment on time,awesome results at the end it was wort it. Clinic is very modern, dental team is a top notch,very professional people. They will pick you upand bring back to hotel.I got lucky, as 1st clinic of my choice did notworked out for me.
