I couldn’t be happier!Dr. Diego is a bright young Doctor meticulous in his work, who speaks excellent English and does everything in his power to make the experience hassle free. He arraigned transportation from the airport, and to and from each visit. Talk about making it easy.My work was porcelain crowns on my six upper front teeth, and five upper implants. Monday: Transport to Santa Cruz for a CAT scan, two hundred bucks. Try that in the US. On to the office where Dr. Diego reviewed the CAT scan, examined the teeth, and came up with a treatment plan to which I eagerly agreed. I would note that on one side of my upper, I have only one remaining molar (for now). My US Dentist wanted to pull that tooth and put in an implant. Dr. Diego pointed out that the jaw on that side would be able to collapse in the six month before the implants were crowned. Good catch doctor.Tuesday: Dr. Diego prepared my upper front teeth for crowns, made impressions, and fitted temporaries. The guy is a wizard with the needle, even the palate shot didn’t hurt. I asked why he was being so meticulous with the forming of my teeth. He pointed out that the upper front teeth have to be perfect on the curve, or they look terrible. He certainly did mine right as the results are fantastic.Thursday: Dr. Diego brought in a surgeon for the five implants. Another late thirties doctor with good English that knows what he is doing. A little more than an hour later, I was done. No pain, none, for the first three days, then aspirin level tenderness for two days. Following Wednesday: The new crowns were put on, and I was done for now. You just can’t know what it means to me to be able to smile again. In six months, back to have crowns put on the implants.Cost: Less than half of what my dentist in the US proposed. The experience was a little different than with a dentist in the US. When you call, you reach the doctor. No receptionist, no assistant, just the doctor who has everything he needs within reach. Not bad, just not what we are used to in the US.As to the area, Tamarindo is a beautiful long beach that attracts surfers from all over the world. It is not as cheap as other places in Costa Rica, but the view, and compact little town are worth it. For a beach front hotel, I paid about what I would pay for a regular, in town hotel in the US. It is the food that is a little pricy unless you go to a Soda (Café). The food is great to fantastic either place.Would I do it again with Dr. Diego, in a heartbeat. Back down for the new crowns in six months, and I am so happy, I may have him crown my lower front teeth. Professional office, everything he needed was within reach. As I noted, the doctor took care of everything, and answered himself whenever I called. It is not a bad thing when you reach the doctor directly, instead of going through a receptionist. read more

Implants Dentists After searching many dental clinics in Costa Rica, I decided to go with Costa Rica Dental Team because it is the only clinic owned and operated by an American. Everyone spoke perfect English, which was very important for me. The pricing was very competitive with other clinics that didn't speak any English, and my cost included transportation to and from my hotel, which was very convenient. They also offer a 10 year replacement guarantee on their website, which is very comforting. No US dentist has ever offered that to me before. At the end, I have an excellent new smile and a few extra friends from Costa Rica Dental Team. I would highly recommend this clinic to other Americans seeking a comfortable, easy to understand and high quality dental experience. Two thumbs up, way up! read more

I have been using this clinic for 6 years (3 visits from the US for implants, crowns and a recent check-up as I was in San Jose for other business). Dr. Castro did 8 crowns for me 4 years ago after I had had implants at the same clinic by Dr Anglada. The dental standards in CR are very high, esp. for clinics that have a large American (and Canadian) clientele, as is the case with Cleo Dental. Dr Castro's work was meticulous, the crowns look and feel like real teeth, I have had no issues with them. He also replaced my old mercury fillings. I saved thousands of dollars between the implants and crowns. Everyone speaks English. Don't throw your money away in the US on expensive work. San Jose is full of Americans getting dental (and cosmetic) work. You get a nice trip in the bargain. The arrow in the picture points to one of the crowned implants, you can't see it too well. The rest are in the back. I am happy to answer any questions about this clinic or travel, hotels, San Jose, etc. read more

Dr. Gonzalez, Dr. Ugalde, Dr. Barquero and their staff are excellent! They provided me with a full dental reconstruction, which included 2 sinus lifts, 6 dental implants with crowns, and six additional crowns, as well as anaesthesia for the procedures. I am 100% happy with the outcome and have received multiple compliments on the results. Dealing with Dr. Gonzalez, Dr. Ugalde, Dr. Barquero and their staff could not have been easier. They were always happy to answer all my questions about the procedures and promptly communicated with me via email and text. Their driver, Ronaldo, was wonderful - very prompt and reliable to pick me up for the procedures, and a wonderful tour guide for day trips. Everyone at Sonria was extremely friendly, professional and very competent, and they were knowledgeable about the latest dental developments. I cannot say enough good things about Sonria, both their personal and professional handling of my dental needs. Dr Oriana Gonzalez is not just a first-rate dentist, but she is an artist as well - because she created a smile for me that looks very natural. I am so grateful to Sonria for giving me my smile back! read more
