Today, I underwent my hair transplant. I had typical male pattern baldness developing on the crown and a receding hairline, particularly on one side. I was nervous about committing, but the time felt right and I pulled the trigger at 36. When I arrived for my consultation in Walsall, I was greeted by the receptionist, who made me feel welcome and at ease. The consultant was very informative and he answered all my questions. He has also been an ongoing help as my point of contact. The surgery where I had the OP was in Dudley. At the surgery, I was welcomed by Dr Claudia and her team. The team described what would happen during the day and we hit it off. After a consultation of the hairline that was drawn on my head, which I agreed looked good, I got onto the operating table, which was an electronically lifted massage bed. All around the donor area, I first had anaesthetic injections, followed by some donor sample taken. Then anaesthetic in the other areas of baldness. Puncture marks were made and the follicles were extracted. I was given lunch and took time for a toilet break and then onto round two. The follicles were transplanted into the puncture marks and an additional anaesthetic was given were needed. I finished off with a round of plasma treatment, as I had heard that it can help the healing process and leave behind less of a scar. The plasma treatment was not included in the hair transplant rate that I paid, but overall, both were good value. The team were helpful, friendly, reassuring and professional. I felt in good hands with the team and I'm glad I took the initiative to finally gi ahead with this. Now the aftercare is in my hands, but I have had all the medications, including antibiotics, a big list of instructions and a briefing from Dr Claudia. Having been diagnosed with Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia, which is progressive, my confidence in my appearance, especially going out on a windy day was at an all-time low. This was the third clinic I had been to and although I couldn’t complain about the others, Emma knew exactly how to cover my problem area by converting a full hairpiece into a topper. She skilfully cut out unneeded areas, then spent ages trimming and thinning until it was perfect. It looked and felt amazing and I cannot thank them enough. I went with a synthetic piece for the first time, which looks very realistic, but may opt for real hair in the future. Speaking to Michael, it was the first time I felt listened to, and that was reflected that back to me, instead of someone of trying to tick off boxes on a check sheet. I had sought therapy previously, to no avail, as the therapists were either patronizing or clinical. When I saw Michael was offering one free session of hypnotherapy, I thought it would be worth a try, and I might learn something to help me. He balanced professionalism with a genuine desire to help people, and took me through each stage comfortably, explaining the process and aims clearly. Firstly, he listened to some of my issues, (for almost an hour actually, which must have been exhausting), then took me through a simple exercise (which we filmed), and ended with the hypnotherapy itself. He emailed me the recording to listen to at home and explained I should listen to it, ideally, daily, to assist me in changing my mindset and the negative patterns impacting me. After the first session, I felt encouraged, that someone actually wanted to understand how best to help me, instead of putting me into a category. I felt notably more relaxed and had a definite task to take away with me. I feel more equipped to face the barriers I have been struggling to overcome. If you are considering hypnotherapy, but feel hesitant, I would certainly recommend giving Michael a call, and taking that chance on yourself. read more
