Gastric Sleeve

Gastric sleeve surgery 5th September 2020 Wow, where do I start? What an amazing team of people. Private transfer from the Airport straight to the Hospital. Nice clean room, bathroom cleaned 3/4 times a day and the staff are lovely and so helpful. Will change your bedding at the drop of a hat if you ask and the bedding is perfect. My mum came with me and we had a double room. Similar to an NHS side room with two beds in it. Very clean and lovely wet room. Full set of appointments with every speciality you can think of to check on you. (They do X-ray in a ct ring it’s so quick. )Day of surgery everything is very calm. The surgeon comes to see you. Tells you an approximate time for surgery. Once you have had your surgery the nursing staff are on it! They are amazing. English is a little broken but there is a translator that you get to know well. She is lovely. If you need to ask a question they all have mobile phones - professional- with google translate. They are very nice and caring young women and I can not think of one time they were not there straight away if I needed them. You won’t be on any solids so you will be on water and apple juice. They do offer you a broth but it was not for me. My mum was provided full meals three times a day but as you can expect any hospital food is not the best. There is a lovely cafe just to the right of the hospital. It’s actually attached. Mum loved the food and the cuppas. We stayed in a hotel for 2 days at the end Bed and breakfast- all included with a private transfer. Then collected private transfer to the airport. *** make sure you ask for a WiFi box. **** The WiFi in the hospital is very hit and miss but Dr Mani understands and knows we like to be in touch with the home so you get your own little WiFi box. Listen very carefully to the nutritionist. There is a lot to take in when you are given all your meds to bring home. You will need a backpack but it is medical equipment so it goes on as a separate piece of cabin luggage free. Dr Mani comes to see you every morning without fail. Think he came a few times on the day of surgery but I was out of but mum said he did. Would not hesitate to recommend this hospital. Brilliant. The bluetongue in the picture is from a dye you have to drink once to check all is ok. We called it the smurf tongue.

My experience with the obesity centre in Antalya was the awesome, wonderful staff that will take care of you from the first minute until you are released.Dr. Mani Habibi was my surgeon and I’m great full for that. He took great care of me in a very professional manner. I got detailed information all the way and they comforted me and gave me courage. Dr. Habibi was there for me and that made me feel safe. I will recommend the obesity centre in Antalya and Dr. Habibi for the fullest. The procedure is scary itself but with a good surgeon and good staff, it will be less scary.

When I arrived at the hospital after being picked up from the airport (arranged by staff) I was immediately looked after, they were quick and efficient in getting my medical history together. The surgical team was outstanding! Reassuring and fantastic at their job. Dr Mani was consistent on checking on me each day and I felt really comfortable during my stay in the hospital. My surgery was performed in October 2021 and I am now 9 months post operation and have shed six stone in weight loss. I have received continuous aftercare and Dr Mani is so quick at replying if I have any concerns. I followed the aftercare booklet I was given and I have had no problems since my surgery. My life has completely changed for the better and I can not thank Dr Mani and his team for giving me my confidence back. They really are amazing!! I wish I had this treatment sooner! I 100%recommend if you are looking for the best treatment and care! I am so happy!

Dr PROF Nurulla Is such a kind doctor..he made me feel relaxed. He was ever smiling and his smile gave me the assurance I needed. As a mental health professional non-verbal communication and body language are important to me. I had the sleeve on the 27/11/2019 and my stitches are healed. I had a great time in their hospital in Antalya and my surgery was a success. The aftercare by the Doctors, nurses even the cleaners are second to none. clean spacious rooms. Aylin was an amazing and very professional interpreter; Just ask her anything and she will do it. Not forgetting My straight hair Dietician BURGAK, was so kind and honest.she took time to explain everything the doctors said..she went with me in all my checkups before the surgery and translated everything. I had a gastric sleeve 1 month ago. I chose this clinic as I know of at least 10 people who had been to this clinic for the same surgery and it was highly recommended. It has been a tough journey due to covid however Dr Mani was fantastic and accommodated every change we had to make. Once we arrived in Turkey this continued and nothing was too much trouble. The care we received was out standing, and this continues in the after care. I am 2 stone 5 pounds lighter after the first month. This is the best decision I have ever made I definatly think I chose the best place to have it done. Can not thank Dr Mani and his fantastic team enough. Thankyou.

Gastric Sleeve

My relationship with food has always been complicated which culminated in me being the heaviest that I have ever been. I was not happy at all both physically and mentally, thus I decided to research sleeve gastrectomy procedures in Turkey. I came across this particular clinic as I wanted to go to Antalya, instead of Istanbul. I am from a busy city and wanted some time out away from the hustle and bustle.What attracted me to Prof Bulbuller's clinic was the mannerism and professionalism of Dr Mani Habibi. I had spoken to other surgeons and clinics before him and it felt like they were desperate for me to come to theirs, but more for the money if anything.Dr Habibi was a breath of fresh air in comparison. He was calm, cool and collected and subsequently invited me to have a talk with him via Zoom.He did not try and do a hard sell of the clinic or their services.. rather he listened to me and asked me what I wanted out of it and why. He answered every question I had very articulately (and I had many questions too)! I was also invited to further Zoom meetings with the whole team to address any further queries and to have a talk. My Zoom consultation made me realise that if I didn't do it now, I don't think I would pluck up the courage to do so later and so I booked my ticket to Turkey. I was advised to follow a high protein low carb diet 2 weeks before the operation and to take medication/multivitamins also. I arrived very late evening on the 10th of September and had a driver waiting for me. Dr Habibi instructed him to take me somewhere to get food as it was so late which I thought was a very sweet gesture. My driver (Onur) was so polite, cheerful and very friendly which was much needed after a long and stressful journey. Upon arrival at the hospital, I had a COVID test was done and some chest x-rays/MRI. Onur stayed with me and translated. He then connected me to his mobile data before he was due to leave so that I could contact my family and let them know that I arrived safely. I will never forget this very kind gesture as I travelled alone. I was then taken to my room ready for the day after.The next day consisted of many tests being done incl. but not limited to: Complete Blood Count, Urinalysis, Chemistry panel, Gallbladder/Abdomen Ultrasound, ECG/EKG, Chest X-rays, Consultations with Prof Bulbuller, Dr Habibi, Psychiatrist and Anesthesiologist. I was given many opportunities to ask as many questions as I wanted and was thoroughly informed of what would be happening. It can be daunting especially due to the language barrier but Nesrin and Burçak were absolutely wonderful in this regard.I was allowed to go and explore the city after all of the tests; the hospital is located in a residential area so there are a few restaurants (final meal) and shops nearby. I was informed of a shopping centre that was a short taxi ride away.I didn't feel nervous until I was in the operating theatre (12th of September) however the theatre staff were so very lovely and I soon felt at ease. Upon waking, I felt like a bus had hit me. I was extremely nauseous, disoriented and had very bad chest pain (due to gas from the surgery). I do not do well with vomiting/nausea/dry heaving so this was the worst part for me. The incision sites did not bother me at all. Most patients are up and walking a few hours after but I was not one of them. Eventually, the nurses helped change me into my own nightgown and I felt a lot better vomiting properly though my stomach was empty. I was then administered morphine and I fell asleep for the rest of the night. I travelled alone as I am very independent however I would have benefitted with having someone there with me immediately after waking because it was so hard and I just wanted a hug/some comfort. The next few days consisted of me doing lung exercises with the incentive spirometer to avoid any pulmonary embolisms, walking around my room and the floor I was on, doing the leak test and a lot of IV fluids. I did not have an appetite at all (something that I cannot ever recall happening) and was encouraged to drink fluids. I found this difficult then and still do to this very day which is a vast contrast to water intake pre-op (3L/day). I am lucky to have 2/3 glasses per day now. That is on me completely as I need to make more of an effort to do so. I continued to be monitored by the nurses and my surgeon/s visited once a day until my discharge day. The nurses were very attentive and any language barriers were overcome with the help of Google Translate. I had a good but very tough experience here. I underestimated how hard it would be but the support that I was provided with, both in person and over the phone, definitely got me through it. Everybody was so lovely especially the cleaners. They had a maternal warmth to them which was very much appreciated. This surgery is not a quick fix; I had to do a LOT of research particularly on the post-op diet. The clear liquids phase was the toughest for me however it does slowly get easier. My advice is to be prepared; arm yourself with as much information and research as you can about the surgery and the lifestyle changes that will need to be made after.Improvements for the team: I would personally have MORE nutritional information for post-op diet as it is the most challenging part of the journey for most people. It certainly is for me. A lot of my post-op diet info came from researching current NHS post-op diet guidelines and from people who have also undergone the same procedure on Instagram. I look at the type of meals that they have/how much however this is also written in the booklet provided. Burçak has been supporting me with this leg of the journey and has always happily answered my queries. You can tell that she genuinely loves what she does which is a pleasure to witness. I am 5 weeks post-op now and have lost over 2 stones thus far. I suspect my weight may stall/lose it slower when on solids however I am prepared for this. I like to think of it as a marathon and not a sprint with slow and steady winning the race.I want to thank Nesrin, Burçak and Professor Bulbuller for being so accommodating and supporting me in the hospital. As for Dr Habibi, - Dr Habibi is the kindest and the least egotistical surgeon I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. If anybody has ever worked with surgeons, you will know that this is very rare! He is the type of doctor that has a genuine and vested interest in the betterment and wellbeing of his patients. Our first meeting over Zoom took place after Dr Habibi had just finished his last surgery of the day. He seemed exhausted yet he made time to talk to me, with a smile on his face too. He continues to answer all of my questions to this very day and has never made me feel like a burden.Thank you for giving me the tools to help change my life. I do not regret having this done at all.. my only regret is that I should have done it sooner! You are wonderful and I cannot thank you enough. I wish you all the success in this world. Bariatric Surgery Consultation

I had a lovely stay at the Antalya Obesity Center. Everything was done very effectively and I am very happy with the care I received. My only downside would be the language barrier with staff. A few could speak English but the nurses and other staff couldn't which made it difficult to communicate however with some miming and Google translate we got there and the nurses were very pleasant, always smiling and tried there best to tell me what was happening. The surgery went very well and I am already seeing a big difference only 2 weeks later. I would definitely recommend them.
