I traveled to Lithuania for total hip replacement surgery at Nordorthopeadics Clinic in April. I would recommend this clinic highly to anyone thinking about going abroad for surgery from the UK. If they want great treatment at almost half the cost of private treatment here. It is also possible to apply for reimbursement of costs using the EU Cross-border Healthcare Directive. I was in a lot of pain from osteoarthritis and was impressed by the speedy replies to my emails from Jurate at the clinic and how quickly she arranged everything for me considering the waiting time in the UK was 41 weeks. The clinic's website gives comprehensive information and has many positive testimonials from past patients. I was also given phone numbers of previous patients who had agreed to speak with me about their experience of the clinic. They recommended the clinic and had successful surgery, so I decided to go to Lithuania for my new hip. Jurate put together a comprehensive package which included everything except flights - the hotel, clinic appointments, the surgery, transport and Rehabilitation post surgery. The team at the clinic were amazing, particularly the expert surgeon and anesthetist who was very approachable and reassuring. I felt safe and cared for. After the surgery, I was walking with help that afternoon and continued to make progress over two days at the clinic then during my 10 days at the rehabilitation Spa where there is a nurse and doctor on call 24/7.A package of treatment was arranged there, after consultation with the doctor and included Physiotherapy, massage, light and cryotherapy to help heal my wound. The food is also very good. I am continuing to make a good recovery and I feel so thankful for the wonderful treatment. I dislocated my shoulder and two tendons were severed. Unfortunately I received bad advice from social services doctor when I was told that rehab would not be necessary! When I realised I was not able to lift the arm at all, I paid for an MRI which showed the damage. At Sta. Elena I was operated on the day after I presented, The main tendon was attached by harpoons into the shoulder, it was not possible to repair the lesser tendon. Now in rehab I am making very good progress, partly due to my hard work and of course the skill of my surgeon, Dr Javier Seara.I would recommend this clinic to anyone. For me personally, it was a lot of money, but I had no alternative. I have now taken out private health insurance! I chose St. Elena Clinic because of a friend's recommendation. My treatment in the clinic was excellent. Incredibly efficient. I would only say that there was rather a lack of compassion, or call it bedside manner from the nursing staff. I think this is quite common in Spain though. read more

I was diagnosed with congenital hip dysplasia. About six months ago it started to get worse and I was in serious pain doing my daily activities. After researching Prof. Fahri Erdogan for a long time I finally decided to consult him with my reports and files. International patient coordinator Mr Ege replied to me in an hour and collected the information they need to consult Dr Fahri. The next day Mr Ege got back to me with detailed explanations of Dr Fahri’s opinion, the injury and possible treatment processes. He sent me x-rays and videos of previous patients who had surgery for hip dysplasia. I knew Dr Fahri is known to be very successful in knee and hip replacement surgeries, but after seeing before-after videos of his patients I decided to book the trip and get the surgery performed by him. Mr Ege who spoke perfect English met us at the airport and was with us all the time. After meeting Dr Fahri in person for the physical examination I felt I am in safe hands due to his knowledge and confidence. His team arranged the treatment process as we spoke, and on my 3rd day in Istanbul, the surgery was performed.Dr Fahri and his team regularly visited me in the hospital during my 5-day stay. They helped me walk short distances. Even 1 day after the operation I was able to walk with a much better posture. They thought my physical therapy exercises and explained to me the healing period briefly. After resting 3 more days at the hotel Mr Ege dropped us to the airport for our flight back. It has been 5 months since the surgery and I can’t tell you how happy I am. I am able to walk with a much better posture and no pain at all. I used to avoid events that require physical activity before the surgery. Now I am basically able to do anything without help. I can take care of my daily jobs, join social gatherings and enjoy my days again. My pain is completely healed and my posture is much better, all thanks to Dr Fahri and his team,I strongly recommend Dr Fahri to anyone who needs a hip replacement surgery. All were handled very efficiently. I met with Dr Jacek Laskowski, who ordered an immediate X-ray, after which hip replacement surgery was determined necessary. We then discussed the proper prosthesis and scheduled the surgery and all of the accompanying tests.The only problem was that on the paperwork my birth year was entered incorrectly. I live in Canada and had been suffering from osteoarthritis in my left shoulder for a number of years. The surgery and rehab services were outstanding at every level. The surgeon even took the time to visit me every day during my stay to follow up on my progress. The physiotherapist showed up even on weekends to work with me and the other foreign patients.Surgery such as the one I got is a major undertaking, and an even more daunting one when travelling far from home away from family and friends. I took the risk to go for it, and it was worthwhile!In general, people who know me would confirm that I am a very demanding customer.
